Media Sponsorship Spotlight: The Norman Conquests

VPR is pleased to support the arts community in Vermont by providing media sponsorships to arts presenters throughout our region. This year, VPR is media sponsor for nearly 200 events in Vermont and the surrounding area.

This month we're pleased to help spread the word about a unique partnership between Dorset Theatre Festival, Weston Playhouse and Northern Stage: their presentation of British playwright Alan Ayckbourn’s celebrated comic trilogy, The Norman Conquests. The poignant, bawdy, and hilarious stories follow assistant librarian Norman’s amorous exploits in and around an English country house on a summer weekend.

A cast of six characters become enmeshed in “an ingenious Chinese puzzleâ€ of relationships that can be enjoyed individually, but even more so, collectively, so audiences are encouraged to see each production. Northern Stage will produce the first of the three comedies, Living Together, under the direction of Peter Hackett at the company’s new Barrette Center for the Arts, April 20 -  May 8. Dorset will follow with Table Manners, directed by Evan Yionoulis, running June 16 - July 2. Weston will conclude the series with Round and Round the Garden, directed by Michael Berresse, playing July 21 - 30.

The cast features Richard Gallagher as Norman, Caitlin Clouthier as Sarah, Ashton Heyl as Ruth, Mark Light-Orr as Reg, Jenni Putney as Annie, and David Mason as Tom. The cast will be consistent throughout the three productions.

Listen to a with Dina Janis from Dorset Theater from last year.
