Colchester and Winooski, Vt.鈥擵PR and Vermont PBS are accepting applications for its Community Forum, a volunteer group that will help Vermont鈥檚 new, unified public media organization assess its service and ensure it is representative of the whole community.
鈥淥ur new organization is founded on a commitment to represent and celebrate our entire community,鈥� said Scott Finn, VPR & Vermont PBS president & CEO. 鈥淭o accomplish this, we must broaden and diversify our audience, and engage community members we have failed to reach鈥攚hile continuing to serve our existing supporters. The Community Forum is an essential link in this process and key to our future success.鈥�
The advisory group will comprise 20-40 members, reflecting the demographic, geographic, cultural, economic and social diversity of the region.
Forum members serve for a three-year term and meetings are held twice a year. Forum members will learn about public media, meet staff members, and have regular communication with the station about programming and service. They鈥檒l have the opportunity to discuss the goals of public media with other members of the Forum. Members also serve as ambassadors for strong public media service within their communities.
鈥淧ublic Media belongs to everyone, and it should look and sound like our whole community,鈥� said Emerald Drake, Community Forum Steering Committee member. 鈥淭he Community Forum is open to people of all walks of life鈥攚hether you tune in all the time or hardly at all.鈥�
