Traverse the state on our highways and back roads and you鈥檒l be treated to a display of historic barns. It鈥檚 believed there are as many as 10,000 historic barns and farm buildings in the state, dating as far back as the late 1700s. Some are still in daily use. But time and Vermont鈥檚 severe weather have taken a toll on these buildings.
State Architectural Historian Devin Colman and Thomas Visser, director of UVM鈥檚 , discuss what is available for barn owners and what efforts are underway to save these structures in the state, including the in North Hartland.
Also on the program, the Vermont Historical Society Museum is currently offering an exhibit called 鈥淕reen Mountain Graveyards.鈥� It鈥檚 a collaboration between photographers Daniel Barlow and Scott Baer and it examines Vermont's forgotten gravestones and cemeteries. We get a tour of the exhibit.
