On Jan. 20, 2015, singer and songwriter Rose Marie McCoy passed away at age 92. As a tunesmith, her first original song was recorded in 1946 and her most recent new song recorded was in 2013, marking an active songwriting career that spanned 67 years. This week, Joel Najman's My Place program presents a concluding part two of the Rose Marie McCoy story, which took her from a farm in Arkansas to the heart of New York City's bustling popular music industry in midtown Manhattan's Brill Building. Featured are many of Rose Marie McCoy's most significant compositions, including recordings by Ike & Tina Turner, Elvis Presley and by Rose Marie McCoy herself.
