My Place: The Story Of Excelsior And Exclusive Records

An album label from Exclusive Record Company, which operated in Los Angeles in the late '40s and early '50s.

Both the Excelsior Record Company and the Exclusive Record Company operated in Los Angeles from 1944 to 1950.

Each company was owned by one of two brothers, originally from Louisiana. This week on My Place, we'll hear samples of jazz, blues and R&B releases from both record labels.

Joel has been a part of Vermont's radio scene since 1964. He began his career at WIPS in Ticonderoga, New York. In 1965, he moved to WFAD in Middlebury, Vermont, where he attended Middlebury College. Over the years, Joel worked at radio stations WJOY, WQCR, WDOT, WDEV and WVAA where he served at various times as Morning Announcer, Program Director and News Director.
