At his inauguration on January 9, 2003, Governor Douglas was joined by former Vermont Governors Howard Dean, Phil Hoff, Madeleine Kunin, Tom Salmon and Ray Keyser.

Wanting to be the governor of Vermont is one thing. Campaigning, getting elected, and then assembling a transition team and cabinet is another. There's also preparing your budget and legislative priorities for the next biennium.

We hear from two former Vermont governors about their experiences of getting elected and serving in the state's top position.

Madeleine Kunin was Vermont's 77th governor and first female governor, serving from 1985-1991. Jim Douglas was the state's 80th governor, serving four terms from 2003-2011. They'll share their insights on what it took to become and be governor.

Also on the program, author and writer Mark Bushnell shares some of the rich history of the state's past governors.

Broadcast live on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at noon; in lieu of a rebroadcast at 7 p.m., we will be airing between the current gubernatorial candidates.
