Monday, January 27th, is the 2020 International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This day commerates the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau in remembrance of the millions of victims of the Holocaust.
VPR Classical is presenting a special musical presentation called
Join James Conlon as he leads us on an exploration of music from a lost generation 鈥� works forgotten in the shadows for decades. He will illuminate the stories and legacies of composers including Alexander von Zemlinsky, Franz Schreker, Victor Ullmann, and Erwin Schulhoff, in a special program to celebrate this rich, revived musical heritage.
Featuring excerpts from Alexander von Zemlinsky鈥檚 The Mermaid, Viktor Ullmann鈥檚 one-act chamber opera, Der Kaiser von Atlantis (Emperor of Atlantis), Erwin Schulhoff鈥檚 Hot Sonata for Saxophone and Piano and the Prelude to Franz Schreker鈥檚 Die Gezeichneten (鈥淭he Stigmatized鈥�).
