Vermont Seniors, Counselors And Colleges Plan For An Uncertain Fall Term

Is remote learning or socially-distanced classes in store for the fall college semester? We talk with students, counselors and more about how they're planning for the fall term.

The spring semester has been challenging for all students, and graduating high school seniors have dealt with canceled events and virtual graduation ceremonies. But for those who are � or were � planning on going to college in the fall, many questions remain: Can they afford school if family circumstances have changed? Will campuses be open? Will their school still be there? We talk with students, school counselors and colleges about their plans for the fall semester.

  • Isabella Falco, a senior at deciding to stay in-state for college
  • Isabel Masi, a senior atplanning to head out of state for college in the fall
  • Corina Gormin, a  senior considering a gap year if her school switches to online-only courses for the fall term
  • Meredith McCartney, a high school counselor at in Brandon
  • Preston Randall, director of guidance at in St. Albans
  • Scott Giles, president and CEO of the , a nonprofit helping students save and access higher education and training.
  • James Lambert, associate dean of advancement at and part of the team working on the school's Fall 2020 plans
