VPR-Vermont PBS Poll Reveals Pandemic's Toll On Finances, Mental Health

In all, 70% of Vermonters said the coronavirus pandemic was a threat (either major or minor) to their personal finances.

The new offers a snapshot of Vermont in the midst of a pandemic and economic recession. This hour, we talk about what Vermonters are saying about the toll this is all taking on their mental health and personal finances.

Our guests are:

  • Rich Clark, political science professor at Castleton University and director of the August 2020 VPR-Vermont PBS poll
  • Liz Hamel, vice president and director of public opinion and for the Kaiser Family Foundation
  • Aron Steward, chief of psychology at UVM Health Network's Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at UVM's Larner College of Medicine

From July 15 to July 28, the VPR - Vermont PBS 2020 Poll asked hundreds of Vermonters how they felt about COVID-19, racial inequality and other issues. 

Jane Lindholm is the host, executive producer and creator of But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids. In addition to her work on our international kids show, she produces special projects for ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý. Until March 2021, she was host and editor of the award-winning ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý program Vermont Edition.
Matt Smith worked for ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý from 2017 to 2023 as managing editor and senior producer of Vermont Edition.
Lydia worked for ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý Radio and Vermont PBS from 2019 until 2022.
