More than 700 people have been arrested and charged with crimes related to the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, where a mob of pro-Trump supporters broke windows, assaulted police officers and sent lawmakers fleeing for their lives. But of those people facing criminal charges from that day, only one of them is a Vermonter.

The article explains how Nicholas Languerand, 26, came to follow QAnon and a host of increasingly common online conspiracy theories from his home in the Lamoille County town of Wolcot, and eventually made his way to the nation鈥檚 Capitol one year ago. He ultimately pleaded guilty to assaulting a law enforcement officer with a dangerous weapon, and was sentenced to 44 months.
