This August, we'll hear some new works by recent Burlington High School graduate Eileen Kocherlakota. Eileen was featured for our in May of 2014, and you can hear that interview .
Eileen writes, "I am going to the University of Michigan in the fall, and will be studying computer science. The highlights of my musical career this year are: having a piece performed by my school orchestra, having a piece performed by the Vermont Philharmonic, having Summer in Shelburne performed at NAfME, having The Frozen Lake selected for the Music-COMP concert and MC’ing it, and winning the Performance/Scholarship award for Summer in Shelburne at the Vermont All State Music Festival. In college I’m hoping to do a music minor, as well as finding some way to connect my musical and computer science interests, perhaps through computer sound technology. I’m also hoping to do community outreach with school-age children about engineering."
Summer in Shelburne was performed at the All State Scholarship concert in Middlebury on May 7, 2015. Performers were Sofia Hirsch, violin I; Asiat Ali, violin II; Elizabeth Reid, viola; Dieuwke Davydov, cello.
The Frozen Lake was performed at Opus 30, April 29th 2015 at the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph. Performers were Letitia Quante, violin I; Jane Kittredge, violin II; Elizabeth Reid, viola; Michael Close, cello.
