The hills are alive with the sound of people laughing. We鈥檙e in the midst of the sixth annual , and you can鈥檛 walk through Burlington, Barre or Montpelier without tripping over a stand-up comedian.
The festival features many of Vermont鈥檚 top comedians, as well as national artists such as the festival headliner, Tig Notaro. The GMCF runs through Sunday, May 25 with shows across the three cities.
Festival co-producer Kathleen Kanz says the festival has come a long with since it's one-night debut in a performance space with broken air conditioning.
She credits her co-producers Nathan Hartswick and Natalie Miller with help in growing the festival to a five-day event.
The festival now brings in national artists such as , who will headline with Burlington punk band Rough Francis.
Notaro will perform two shows at Burlington's on Saturday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
