What Will Vermont's New 'Blogging Bishop' Bring To The Job?

Bishop Christopher Coyne will be installed as the Tenth Bishop of Burlington on Jan. 29. The 56-year-old has a reputation for social media savvy, and has vowed to address the Church's sliding popularity and the scars of clergy sexual abuse.

On Thursday, Vermont’s nearly 120,000 Catholics will have a new leader in the state. Bishop Christopher Coyne will be installed as the Tenth Bishop of Burlington at a ceremony in the Queen City.
The 56-year-old brings with him a reputation for social media savvy, and vows to and the scars of clergy sexual abuse.

Rocco Palmo first broke the news of Coyne’s appointment on his blog , where he writes about Catholic Church policy and politics. Palmo spoke with VPR about what Coyne will bring to the job.
