UVM, St. Michaels Become 'Peace Corps Prep' Partner Schools

The University of Vermont and St. Michaels College are two of fewer than 50 schools officially partnered with the Peace Corps through its Peace Corps Prep program.

The University of Vermont produces many graduates who go on to join the Peace Corps.

UVM recently ranked seventh among top volunteer-producing colleges and universities across the country, with 25 alumni currently serving worldwide.

In total, 857 UVM alumni have served in the Peace Corps.

Now, the university is strengthening that connection by becoming an official partner in the Peace Corps Prep program.

This year, both UVM and St. Michael's College became partners in the program designed to give college students knowledge and skills that would prepare them for Peace Corps work. Nationally, .

Jane Kolodinsky is the chair of the Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) department at UVM. She spearheaded the university's application process.

Annie Russell was VPR's Deputy News Director. She came to VPR from NPR's Weekends on All Things Considered and WNYC's On The Media. She is a graduate of Columbia Journalism School.
Alex was a reporter and host of VPR's local All Things Considered. He was also the co-host and co-creator of the VPR program Brave Little State.
