You don't have to be in Vermont very long to figure out that this is Sen. Bernie Sanders country.

A out this week showed the senator leading former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton here 78 percent to 13 percent among likely voters.

Still, Clinton's camp is leaving no potential delegate on the table in its play for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Her campaign has been canvassing in Vermont and now, it's deploying surrogates to try to convert some Democratic voters ahead of next week's primary.

Stephanie Schriock is president of EMILY's List, a political group that aims to get more Democratic women in office. Schriock is one of Clinton’s surrogates and she spoke with VPR about this year’s contest.

Annie Russell was VPR's Deputy News Director. She came to VPR from NPR's Weekends on All Things Considered and WNYC's On The Media. She is a graduate of Columbia Journalism School.
Alex was a reporter and host of VPR's local All Things Considered. He was also the co-host and co-creator of the VPR program Brave Little State.
