Head Of Burlington Teachers Union Calls Suggested Working Conditions 'Insulting'

Tensions are running high between the Burlington School Board and the city's teachers union. After unsuccessful contract talks, the board moved to impose working conditions on teachers last week, without their approval.

This week, teachers unanimously rejected that move, saying it will cause "division, chaos and confrontation." Fran Brock, president of the Burlington Education Association, spoke with VPR about the back-and-forth.

Annie Russell was VPR's Deputy News Director. She came to VPR from NPR's Weekends on All Things Considered and WNYC's On The Media. She is a graduate of Columbia Journalism School.
Alex was a reporter and host of VPR's local All Things Considered. He was also the co-host and co-creator of the VPR program Brave Little State.
