This week, Addison County Independent senior reporter John Flowers wrote about how Addison Central School District teachers and students are doing after a month of distance learning.
Flowers said the superintendent described the district's Herculean efforts as having "to build in three weeks what should have taken a year to do completely and thoroughly."
According to Flowers' reporting, the student body is expected to finish assignments and attend online meetings. He said about 2% of students in the district rely on having assignments sent to them via "snail-mail" because they aren't able to access the internet.
As for "rites of passage" like prom and graduation ceremonies, Flowers said adminstrators haven't decided one way or the other. He added everybody seemed hopeful that schools could still hold such events at later dates in the summer.
